Sebastian had just left him to perform the long, tedious, and meaningless list of tasks that Ciel had assigned him. The young earl smiled once the door had shut and he heard his butler's footsteps fading into the distance. Ever since the incident of the "Wild Chocolate Earl" he'd been on a strict *no snacks* diet and he hated it. He murmured to himself as he went out of his office and went down the hallway, "I am 12 years old, for goodness sakes. He is not my guardian, he does not have the authority to tell me when I can and cannot eat." Entering the kitchen and finding the cook gone, not as though he actually did any work anyway, he raided the supplies and found several desserts chilling in the freezer. Not really caring whether they were completely ready or not, he stole into the recesses of the manor to rarely used guest room's walk in closet with his prizes. He relished these small acts of rebellion against Sebastian's wishes. He took every opportunity to vex his butler, but it was only to reassure himself. He sometimes wondered if he truly was the master in their relationship or if he had become a marionette to the powerful demon who walked his home's halls. Shaking the dark thoughts away, he sullenly took a piece of a lemon pudding of some sort.
Sebastian Michaelis, ace butler and demonic servant of Phantomhive manor, came back from his tasks and said dully with a hint of annoyance, "He just sent me to do those errands to get me out of the house. Now what mayhem has happened in my absence?" He used his powers to locate Ciel and saw that nothing was amiss there. He was still sitting in his office. He then checked on the other servants. The cook, a loose term at best, had burnt dinner to a crisp with a blowtorch as usual. Sebastian had prepared for just such an occasion, so he already had the ingredients for another meal entirely. It took him mere minutes to finish the preparations and move on to the next station. The gardener had only managed to deleaf the hedges in the inner garden, so it was no problem to simply shoo the boy away and use a little of his power to make them flush out again. The maid had shattered a priceless antique vase, but again, being a demon had perks. Having finished his survey of the house, he went to check on his young master.
Ciel kept his head down on his desk and his eyes closed. He would never EVER try that again. He would prefer never to look at a sweet again…at least not any time soon. The sound of footsteps didn't even reach him and the first thing he knew of Sebastian's presence was him asking softly, "Young master? Are you awake?"  The only reply he could muster was a dull moan, but Sebastian already knew that Ciel wasn't going to answer. Empty plates were scattered over the top of the desk and made clear evidence of the boy's rash binge. Sighing heavily, the butler went to his master's side and picked him up gently, getting no sort of resistance from the miserable child and carried him to his bedroom as he chided gently, "You see, sir? This is precisely why I was limiting your intake. I'm afraid you'll just have to sleep it off this time, and it will probably be at least three days before you'll be completely recovered. Poor young master." Secretly, Sebastian was delighted that Ciel had finally made himself sick, which meant he had less to do in the way of meal planning for a few days and less that the incompetent cook could mess up.
After gently undressing the boy and putting him into a nightshirt, Sebastian set Ciel in bed and closed the curtains on his window. He then went to the bedside and said, "Sir, if it is not too much to ask, which of the items in the freezer did you take? I need to know what I must remake for tomorrow's banquet, which you will have to attend, I'm sorry to say." Even the mention of food made Ciel ill and he clapped his hand over his mouth to keep from vomiting. The butler sighed again and said as he sat on the edge of the bed, "I suppose I can just go check then.  Young master, I do wonder sometimes why humans, especially children, seem to think they can hold an infinite amount in that small stomach. I suppose I'll never really understand." Ciel wished he could slap Sebastian, but he didn't dare move. There was silence for a moment, and then Sebastian gently stroked the boy's head and said with amusement, "I do have to admit that you are quite adorable like this, young master. Perhaps I should leave you to your own devices more often." There was no answer, and Sebastian assumed he had fallen asleep, so he removed the eye patch that covered the mark of their covenant. Instead of sleep, he found slow tears running down his master's face from the pain of his self induced stomach ache. Shaking his head slightly, the butler whispered soothingly, "There, now, sir. It will pass soon. Try to rest and relax your muscles." Ciel nodded a little, then stammered, "S-Sebastian…please don't go. I'm…sorry." This surprised him, and Sebastian laughed before saying with affection, "Of course not, sir. I will be with you till the end. No apology necessary." He gave Ciel a small kiss on the forehead and continued smoothing his hair until he knew for certain his master was properly asleep. He then went to the door and said with a smile, "Till the morrow, my young master."
What mischief will the household get up to while Sebastian is gone? find out...
